CLINICAL SPECIALIZATION
Dr. Maddisen Espeseth is a licensed psychologist who practices from an attachment-heavy, neurosequential lens. Specific to psychodiagnostic testing, she has a history of assessing for neurodevelopmental diagnoses (such as autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder: ADHD, intellectual disability, and specific learning disabilities) in addition to mood, obsessive-compulsive, anxiety, psychotic, trauma-related, and personality disorders. Dr. Espeseth strongly values the provision of client-centered, holistic, respectful, neurodiversity affirming testing services. She recognizes that the construct of neurodivergence is multidimensional and contextualized by an individual’s unique lived experience; it therefore, frequently conflicts with the binary, often pathologizing, and sometimes ecologically invalid or impractical diagnostic criterion outlined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5-TR). It is significantly important to her to continuously learn and expand her understanding of neurodivergence while maintaining ethical fidelity to our present-day consensual conceptualizations of mental health diagnoses. Specific to psychotherapy, Dr. Espeseth specializes in treating trauma-related disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
