CLINICAL SPECIALIZATION

Dr. Meiners has a specialization in the treatment of dual diagnosis mental health disorders through a Narrative Therapy lens. His areas of specialty include clinical treatment of substance abuse disorders, co-occurring mental health disorders, the LGBTQ+ population, and psychological testing and evaluations for the purpose of improving diagnostic clarification and treatment outcomes. Dr. Meiners has spent most of his career working with individuals who have experienced significant trauma (high acuity youth in the foster care system, human trafficking/domestic violence survivors, trauma programs in substance use disorder clinics), and therefore ensures to always incorporate trauma-informed care. He combines evidence-based treatment with a collaborative relationship style in order to improve his patients’ overall well-being.
