OCD + Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT)

Grace Fraser Discusses OCD + Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT)

An Interview with :: Grace Faser, ACSW

HOW DOES OCD EFFECT THE FAMILY DYNAMIC?

OCD is a very misunderstood diagnosis, and it can be really frustrating for family members when they are kind of just seeing the outside perspective of what’s going on and not really the internal perspective. So educating them on what OCD looks like can have them have a little bit more patience with the sufferer and realize that they are suffering and be a little bit more compassionate.

IS INFERENCE-BASED COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (I-CBT) EFFECTIVE WHEN TREATING OCD?

I think we are so fortunate to live in a time where there all are like multiple options to treat OCD, and it was, it used to be considered untreatable. This is the first treatment center I know of that’s offering I-CBT. It’s a relatively new therapy to treat OCD, and so I think it’s amazing that this program is offering a track for that and having the option to include it in the curriculum. Probably what’s gonna set me apart is that I specialize in I-CBT and I personally love it. I think it’s so fun and so empowering and it essentially has people learning to trust themselves again, so it’s very rewarding to be on that journey with them.
